MEC is now to launch the Tracking and the Fleet Management System at the first quarter of 2004, Full development on this project had been made at 2003 and now we will start this major pioneer project in Jordan and the region by introducing "Position Management Technology" through integrating GPS data on digitized GIS mapping technology for both mobile and fixed assets.
The integration of this project was carried out with MEC and its resources and the following strategic partners:
- Absolute communications LTD:
A world leader in GPS/GIS software solution enabling tracking and location identification of mobile units on computerized digital maps displayed on PC screen.
- Falcom wireless communications:
A world leader in design and manufacturing of GPS/GSM/Satellite intelligent hardware mounted on mobile assets enabling reception and re-transmission of GPS coordinate data through GSM and satellite networks to the control and monitoring stations

Benefits when using Tracking system |
- Locate and identify any car, truck, vehicle, boat, person or asset through a simple web site interface. Real-time GPS location.
- Report on any environmental variables such as Location, speed, direction, stops, and entry/exit to specific areas.
- Set rules such as geo-boundaries, time of use and maximum speed and be instantly alerted when a rule is broken
- Integrate remote data into your back office and other software for a custom solution.
- Maintain better cost control: Money savings through reduced fuel and maintenance costs of vehicles.
- Reduce missing mobile assets through being able to instantly identify the location.
- Reduce accidents and decrease insurance premiums with a GPS tracking system
- Promote safe driving habits among employees on the road with vehicle tracking and speed reports
- Provide reports of miles driven for every vehicle
- Reduce your company fuel bill and increase miles driven per gallon of fuel.

How it works |
GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. The receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the Tracking System's electronic map. Things get really interesting when you combine other forms of communication such as Mobile Phone and GPRS technologies to relay information based on the GPS location data.
A GPS vehicle-tracking system is intended to provide vehicle location information so you know where your vehicle is, what it is doing and where it has been. Vehicle tracking reports includes valuable information such as speeds and headings.

Vehicle Tracking
System with Thuraya
|
| Full-fledged fleet management and tracking across the entire Thuraya footprint. Teknobil's Thuraya-based Fleet Management Technology is much more than a simple vehicle tracking system. It has many additional smart features ensuring the full and intelligent manegement of a fleet or tracking vehicles and assets. Teknobil Next Vehicle Docking Adaptor enables the smart features of the sytem at the vehicle side. |

| What makes this system work? |
A) The GPS
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite positioning and communication service options provided by the US witch gives an accurate and reliable positional, speed and status information worldwide. This system contains 24 satellite distributed around the earth. To get a 2D position on a digital map we need three satellites to give this service, and for 3D position we need four satellites.
B) The SMSC
A short message service center (SMSC) that works on the GSM, so as to provide the messaging service between authorized PCs and the vehicles data display device.
C) A GPS/SMS receiver device
A hardware device needed to be installed and fitted on the vehicle to receive and send SMS messages and also be able to receive the signal from the GPS satellites and identify its location and send it to an earth station as an SMS.
D) An Internet connection
The customer’s company needs to be provided with an Internet connection to the MEC sites or by a LAN, WAN or VPN connection to be able to operate this system application programs so as to see the vehicle’s location and status on the digital map of that location, and also to use the application provided to receive messages and send them to the vehicles.
